Introduction
It is 1841 and you are a member of the Texas-Santa Fe Expedition as a military guide and protector. You just realized your leaders mistook the Wichita River for the Red River and are low on supplies and provisions. You know you need to go further north to find the Red River, but aren't sure how exactly to get there. Also, because you are low on provisions, you need to find food for the entire group and water. You have a crude map of the area, but it has no distance markers.
When you are finished with this WebQuest, you should be able to write a five page paper which includes the following information:
- The food you can eat in the Llano Estacado area, including how you will cook it (remember there are no microwaves!).
- Where you will find water and how you will make sure it is drinkable.
- The route you will take to Santa Fe from what is currently Wichita Falls, keeping in mind geographical limitations with your form of transportation.
- How you will protect yourself from the Indians and Mexican Army in the area.
