Teacher Page
This WebQuest is designed for the college student, however, it could be adapted for a high school student. The student should have a good grasp of government and politics before beginning this assignment, and at least one member in each team should have good computer skills. This particular WebQuest is extensive in the curriculum it crosses including writing, math, accounting, and speech/theater. If the students have not had courses in those areas, additional resources may need to be provided which might even include in-class lectures from professionals in those areas. An additional benefit might be having an actual US Senator come speak to your class or school so they can see a "pro" at work. I realize that may not be an option, but I would encourage teachers to find a politician to do a presentation in class before or during the WebQuest.
Feel free to take this WebQuest and adapt it to your class, state, county, etc. As I designed this for the US Government class here at NMSU-Carlsbad, you could easily adapt this to a local government class or even a history class researching past campaigns.
And most of all, encourage your students to have fun with this and be creative! Creativity really rules in advertising. ;-)
